✓PTT Tips:

Coloring is a WONDERFUL pre writing activity! There are so many different types of crayons and markers, but many are not made for small preschool aged hands. Above are my favorites to help with supporting using a functional tripod grasp (3 finger-thumb, pointer finger, middle finger.) I like to use the Crayola wide crayons broken into smaller pieces for all of my pre school and kindergarten aged kids (see picture below.) If they are still having difficulty, try putting a small item to hold in their distal hand (4th/5th digit-ring and pinky finger.) If the wide crayons still are tricky, try [amazon text=Crayon Rocks&asin=B00OPFGKH8], these are smaller and smooth and even have a little indent for thumb placement, my kiddos LOVE these! With coloring activities start with coloring on a piece of paper then work up to coloring within boundaries of shapes, pictures, and then work up to tracing and copying lines/shapes, and letters of name.
